Ellen and Tom's Wedding Photography Story
Cripps Barn, Bibury, Gloucestershire
I hope you all enjoy Ellen and Tom's wedding story, which I shot last July at Cripps Barn in the charming Cotswold village of Bibury.
I'd photographed Tom's brother's wedding the previous year and Ellen and Tom had loved the photos so much they booked me up straight away.
Cripps Barn is a beautiful 18th century Cotswold stone barn, set in pretty grounds and surrounded by oodles of idyllic Cotswold countryside.
Sadly, on the day, the weather was far from favourable. The heavens opened and it poured down for most of the morning. Thankfully, as the day progressed the weather improved, and although the ground was too waterlogged to hold the ceremony outside, the barn, dressed for the occassion, more than made up for it.
As the harp played, Elen sparkled as she walked down the aisle, dazzling her guests and Tom, who gazed adoringly at her.
The ceremony was delightful and after being joined by Tom's one day old nephew for the group shots, I took Ellen and Tom around the grounds to various locations that I had picked out during my pre-wedding venue scout.
As Ellen and Tom made their way through the woodland glade, I gently followed, documenting some very tender moments. I really encourage this time away from guests as not only does it give couples time to be together, but also a chance to reflect on the day's events.
We strolled in to the fields adjoining the barn and enjoyed some really very beautiful light; it was late in the afternoon and the sun was getting low, throwing a spectacular golden glow across the corn.
As day turned into night, the evening entertainment got into full swing. Ellen and her bridesmaids showed some great 'Gangnam Style' moves, much to the delight of her guests!
Being Ellen and Tom's wedding photographer was particularly enjoyable. They were such a sweet couple who were brilliant to work with. It was great to see so many familiar faces, having photographed Dan's wedding, (Tom's brother) a year earlier. It was lovely to be remembered by everyone and to catch up with Hayley and Dan and their new baby son, Finlay. It just goes to show that a lot can happen in a year.
