Wedding Photography at Cripps Barn

I hope you all enjoy this blog from Elen and Tom's wedding, which I shot last July at Cripps Barn in the charming Cotswold village of Bibury, Gloucestershire.

I'd photographed Tom's brother's wedding the previous year, (blog to follow on that one!) and Elen and Tom had been so impressed with the photos they booked me up straight away.

One of the great things about living in such a beautiful part of the world like the Cotswolds, is that you get to shoot at some really special venues, and Cripps Barn didn't disappoint.

Cripps Barn is a beautiful 18th century Cotswold stone barn, set in pretty grounds and surrounded by oodles of idyllic Cotswold countryside.

Sadly, on the day, the weather was far from favourable. The heavens opened and it poured down for most of the morning. Thankfully, as the day progressed the weather improved, and although the ground was too waterlogged to hold the ceremony outside, the barn, dressed for the occassion, more than made up for it.

As the harp played, Elen sparkled as she walked down the aisle, dazzling her guests and Tom, who gazed adoringly at her.

The ceremony was delightful and after being joined by Tom's one day old nephew for the group shots, I took Elen and Tom around the grounds to various locations that I had picked out during my pre-wedding venue scout.

As Elen and Tom made their way through the woodland glade, I gently followed, documenting some very tender moments. I really encourage this time away from guests as not only does it give couples time to be together, but also a chance to reflect on the day's events.

We strolled in to the fields adjoining the barn and enjoyed some really very beautiful light; it was late in the afternoon and the sun was getting low, throwing a spectacular golden glow across the corn.

As day turned into night, the evening entertainment got into full swing. Elen and her bridesmaids showed some great 'Gangnam Style' moves, much to the delight of her guests!

I found Elen and Tom's wedding particularly enjoyable as they were such a sweet couple who were brilliant to work with. It was great to see so many familiar faces, having photographed Dan's wedding, (Tom's brother) a year earlier. It was lovely to be remembered by everyone and to catch up with Hayley and Dan and their new baby son, Finlay. It just goes to show that a lot can happen in a year!

"Thank you for all your hard work and dedication in making sure we have a wonderful set of photos to remember our wedding day by. You had the ability to anticipate the best place to position yourself throughout the day to capture all the key moments and people."
