2016 weddings

Hellooooo! It's been a while since my last blog but that's not because I've been quiet - it's the complete opposite!

As well as Gill Thomas photography, I also run Mouse About Town - the other side to my photography business. This covers family and children's portraits, pet portraits, cake smashes, newborns, on location and studio work, commercial projects and much, much more! From September through to Christmas I had weddings nearly every weekend last year plus my Mouse About Town work was in high demand in the run up to Christmas.

So I find myself in April and I thought it about time I share some of my favourite photos from the 7 weddings I've done so far this year - I've got another 27 to go!

I hope you like the photos. I'll try and write one blog a month but with the workload on the up and my two young children, posts might dwindle!

Enjoy and happy weddings if you're a bride to be!

Bridal Photo Shoot

In between the many weddings I've got at the moment, on Tuesday I had the opportunity to get my creative juices going with a photo shoot for new Tewksbury based wedding events company; Poppy's Events. Here's the collection of photos.

Thanks to all the suppliers who were involved. Caley Soul Make Up, Darcy and Eliza Vintage Hire, The Greenway Spa and Hotel and model, Wave Marie Baldwin.

Emma & Scott's Wedding @ Cripps Stone Barn, Aldsworth

On Thursday I photographed a gorgeous wedding between Emma and Scott at Cripps Stone Barn, Aldsworth. Here are a few snaps. The full collection can be viewed under my latest weddings. Sorry to be brief but I'm rushing out of the door for another wedding!

Wedding Fever

Hello again everyone! It's been a while since my last blog, but I've done 7 more weddings over this last month or so and they're keeping me rather busy, (and quiet!) on the old blog front!

Here's a snippet of shots from them. To check out more photos from all of these weddings simply click on 'Latest' and start scrolling.

Enjoy, oh, and if you don't hear from me for a while it's because I've got 35 weddings to photograph this year, the majority of which are coming up in the next two months!

Michelle & Roger's Pre-Wedding Shoot

Michelle and Roger recently contacted me about photographing their wedding. They'd looked at lots of different photographers but I was their favourite - they liked the fact my formal shots, although posed, still contained a lovely element of fun. They booked an engagement photo shoot with me prior to confirming me as their wedding photographer.

I suggested Crickley Hill Country Park. The beautiful views would make a stunning backdrop, plus there are very few people up there so nice empty backgrounds too.

Michelle and Roger are the first to admit they are not comfortable in front of the camera. However, like all my pre-wedding shoots, I kept things relaxed and informal, letting them take things at their own pace and posing in positions they felt comfortable in.

I got the photos back to them within a matter of days and they booked me within hours of seeing them!

I'm so looking forward to photographing their wedding next June. It's going to be great to work together.

Gemma & Gareth's Wedding, Highbury Hall, Birmingham

Gemma & Gareth were married two weeks ago and booked me for my half day wedding photography package.

I've never shot a wedding at Highbury Hall before, but it's a great venue. The interior was so beautiful I was half pleased the weather wasn't that favourable, and you won't catch me saying that very often!

After an intimate ceremony, the weather brightened just enough to do the group and formal shots outside, before heading back inside for some more private photographs with just Gemma & Gareth.

Gemma and Gareth had taken my advice and did the speeches before the wedding breakfast, meaning I could cover that part of the wedding before I left.

Engagement Shoot @ Pittville Park, Cheltenham

It was an early start last Sunday as I made my way to Pittville Park to meet Rebecca & James for their engagement shoot.

The early start was my suggestion. Pittville Park can get really busy, especially on a beautiful morning like it was last Sunday. And it paid off, we got lots of lovely photos with beautiful empty backgrounds, free from all the bustle of park life. By mid morning Rebecca in particular noticed how much busier it was and was thankful they had pulled themselves out of bed!

Pittville Park is a great place for a photo shoot. It's very big with lots of different places to go. The hour and a half we had together flew by. We started at the iconic Pittville Pump Rooms then took a stroll down to the children's playground. It was deserted, (we walked back this way at the end of the shoot and you couldn't move for all the children.)

We paused briefly at the bridge over the lake before heading round to the stepping stones and more play equipment. We followed the winding path round to the waterfalls before taking a slow walk back, stopping every now and then for a photo opportunity.

Rebecca and James are to marry this July, watch this space for photos from their wedding!

Katherine & Andy's Valentines Wedding @ Lower Slaughter Manor

I was certainly feeling the love this Valentines Day after a 3 hour wedding shoot at Katherine & Andy's oh so romantic wedding at Lower Slaughter Manor in the Cotswolds.

Katherine & Andy didn't want a full day of wedding photography coverage, they didn't even want a half day. Instead they chose to use my bespoke package, which is charged by the hour. This is a great option if you're on a tight budget but still want a wedding photographer to capture the most important bits.

It was a small affair with just 20 guests, but the intimate nature of the wedding fitted the occasion perfectly. After a very touching ceremony, the drinks reception followed and guests were soon in the party mood; the prop box was a particular favourite!

The last of 2014's weddings!

It's been a while since I wrote my last blog, but I've been super busy. In October I was preparing the grand opening of my new photography studio, which took place in November. I've had lots of weddings in the run up to Christmas, including two over the Christmas weekend.

So I thought it time I posted a few snaps from the last three or four weddings from 2014, I hope you like them.

My first wedding for 2015 falls on Valentines day, gonna be a lot of love in the air!

Engagement Shoot @ Heaven's Gate, Wiltshire

Well hello there! It's been quite a while since my last post but July and August were absolutely jam packed full of weddings that I hardly had time to catch a breath let alone write my blogs!

So here's a sneaky peek at some of the photos from Sam and Jack's engagement shoot from 31st August. We shot it at Heaven's Gate - if you haven't visited it before I can certainly recommend it. With views to die for I can fully appreciate how it got its name.

Sam and Jack are getting married in December this year at Orchardleigh, a beautiful venue where I was the wedding photographer for Tammy and Craig last year. It's going to be another fabulous day!

I promise to write some more blogs really soon with lots more photos from some of my very latest weddings. Watch this space!

Wedding Photography from Helen & Mark's Wedding, Taunton, Somerset

Hi folks. So I've finally finished the massive editing task that followed the wonderful wedding between Helen and Mark. What a truly brilliant day. Despite the 'festival' theme, the rain held off and the welly boots were left in the car! Below is just a small snippet of some of the photos from their big day.

Photo's from Rachel & Scott's Wedding, Hyde Barn

On Thursday I enjoyed a lovely day as Rachel and Scott's wedding photographer at Hyde Barn in Gloucestershire.

We were blessed with glorious weather, which beamed even brighter than Scott's smile when he saw Rachel walking down the aisle!

Rachel and Scott had chosen my half day wedding photography package. Unusually, I spent the morning with Scott and his family. It made a nice change to soak up the build up to the wedding with the lads. Further more, Rachel and Scott asked for group shots of just Scott's side of the family before the wedding, leaving just the united family photos for afterwards. A very touching idea that I shall be suggesting to future brides I work with.

The wedding itself was a very small, intimate affair with just 14 guests. It made a refreshing change. So lovely to go into the reception room to find just a single square table, laid up for what looked like a simple and wonderfully enjoyable dinner party.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day spent with a group of lovely people. Below are just a small sample of shots. I'll be adding the full story to the website soon.
